Semester #9 Essay Prompt #6: Many people volunteer their time to help others, either through non-profit organizations, churches, or other charitable venues. Write an essay convincing readers to find a charity and volunteer their time.

I feel that everyone should at least try to volunteer for a charity, church, or any other non-profit organizations just to see how the experience would be for them. They could change someone’s live in a positive way. You could do a lot more positive things in a person’s live and even in yours. It could make you a better person with better morals and an overall look on life then you had before. It could help benefit your community in a good way.

People could do it if they have to complete community service hours. Instead of cleaning the side of freeways at least then they could choose a charity that they would enjoy being in. Then that way they could do there hours and at the same time contribute to the community or cause that the charity is helping. They could also volunteer for a church they like. That way they could also do something they like while they pass the time for their hours and benefit the community also in a good way. They could help with church services on Sunday or during bible study on Wednesday, Thursday, or whenever they have bible study if they have it.

People could volunteer for charities, churches, and other non-profit organizations by just joining if they are retired or if they just have nothing to do in there free time. They could volunteer like that because at least they would always have something to do that they enjoyed in there free time. All they would have to do is join the place that offered what they were most passionate in doing or pressuring. That would be a good way for them not to be bored with there free time and to do sometime productive with it.

They could join a charity that helps the homeless get there lives back together. If a person were to join a charity like that it would mostly be a life changing experience for them. They would probably encounter the most horrible conditions for a human being that probably have ever seen. It would make them fill grateful for everything they own and learn to never take anything for granted.

Overall I think people should volunteer for charities and stuff because it seems like a good deed to do. It also seems like that people should always want to help someone out whether they get something out of it or not. Because at least you will know that you did everything you come do to help everybody out that you could while you lived. And maybe you could change that person’s life whether it’s a gang banger or criminal. There’s a chance for change in anyone. That’s why charities are around and that’s why more people unto join them.

Halle Berry

If I could have dinner with a famous person it would probably be Halle Berry. It would probably be her because I’ve always wanted to meet her. She is so beautiful too me. Just to be in her presence would be good enough for me. That’s why I would want to have lunch with Halle Berry.

My Three Brothers

I have three older brothers. They are named Lil Mark, Lamar, and Marquise. They act like older brothers always act. They always have my back. They used to mess with me when we were younger. My brother Lil Mark is in the army. He has served in Iraq. My brother Lamar lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. He lived out here but he was getting in trouble in theses streets and had to move. My brother Marquise was killed at the age of 21. He was a real nice good person. That’s all I have to say.

Dolphin

If there was a pet that I could own that I’ve always wanted it would be a dolphin. I would want to own a dolphin just to see how the experience would be just to have one. I would probably be fun. I would teach him tricks and stuff. I would train and teach him how to prank people like spit water on them or knock them into the water. And I would take good care of it. I would treat it like I treat all my other pets I’ve had. With lots of love. That’s all I would really do if I owned a dolphin.

My Journey on a Pirate Ship

My Journey on a Pirate Ship was amazing. Being a pirate on the high seas and stealing and taking treasures of all sort. Living the lifestyle of Blackbeard. No real responsibility that you have to take care of. Just make sure the ship is always in tip top shape. The lifestyle some wish they could live. Always filled with new and dangerous adventures. Always adrenaline filled with every new battle and celebration. That’s how I felt on my journey on a pirate ship.

Deepest Fear I used to have

I don’t have any fears now. But when I was little I used to have a fear of gorillas. I used to have a fear of them because I had a bad experience with one at the zoo when I was little. I touched the glass and the gorilla hit it back hard and scared the crap out of me. I got over the fear when I was like eleven years old. But I used to hate them with a passion.

If I owned a restaurant.

If I were to own a restaurant I would call it “The Pig Out Joint”. My restaurant would be a big place that was well known throughout the city for having the best food. It would be painted in all red with some black on it. It would have signs that light up at night time. And I would hire all races of people. I wouldn’t discriminate at all. And I would serve everything and it would taste better than all the competitions food.

If I saw a dinosuar in my backyard

If I were to ever see a dinosaur in my backyard. I would be shocked to it. I would think something going wrong that someone lost their mind and brought them back to life. And that they had got loose. If it were a good dinosaur I would probably go out there and mess with it. But if it were a bad dinosaur I wouldn’t go out side. I would stay inside by any means necessary. That’s all I would really do if I saw dinosaur in my backyard.

A meal that I would fix for my family

I would of course fix my family my favorite meal, hamburgers and French fries. I would fix it for them because its one of the only meals I know how to cook really. And I’m sure they would like it just as much as me. I would make it like you normal make hamburgers and fries. For the hamburgers I would first ground up the meat then make the patties. After that I would season them then cook them. And for the bun I would probably grill them. And for the French fries I would to them in the grease and cook them or bake them depending on how the person would prefer them. And they were cooked I would also season them. Then I would serve it to my family and hope they enjoy it. That’s all I would do if I were to fix a meal for my family.

Semester#8 essay prompt#12: The Military

Semester#8 essay prompt#12: In many countries, citizens are required to serve in the military for a year or more. Do you believe the United States should institute a similar practice? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

I do not think the United States should institute a practice where they make their citizens join the military for one year or more. I don’t think we should institute that practice because we have a steady supply of volunteers joining the military now enough as it is. And I feel that the military lies to the public to make us join the military whenever a war comes between us and another country. I feel they lie to us about the purpose for which we are going to wars because they feel if they tell us the truth about it that most Americans won’t join the war effort. And they’ll mostly be against it.

I feel that if you start to make and force people to join the military that the there would be a major problem between the American people and the government if we ever found out the real purpose of the war if it wasn’t what they initially told us. For example, if we were told that we were going to war to safe people from genocide. But the real reason was for oil or some other selfish reason that I would make people protest the military on an unimaginable scale.

People would start to desert the military and other stuff. I feel we would do that because as Americans if we are going to war or anything on that scale that for us to really get into it and join the military to protect our country. That we always need to know the truth about the reason we are going in the first place. If the reason is good enough then you will have no issue in recruiting new soldiers for the war effort. And if the reason sounds fishy to people then you will just have to work with the soldiers that you already have in the military.

A big example of why some people wouldn’t join the military now is because of the Iraq and Afghanistan War. I say that because the government said that we were going to war to find and destroy there nuclear weapons. But after we found out they didn’t have nuclear weapons and that our soldiers are still out there fighting a no purpose having war that is only for ones selfish reason. That selfish reason is because we are only there for the one reason the government didn’t want to tell us. That reason was only for oil that’s the main and only reason that we are still and was ever sent there in the first place at all.

Overall I feel that the military shouldn’t have to enforce there citizens to join the military for a year or more. I know me personally wouldn’t go if they did that. I would only go if they tried to invade America itself or if the reason for war was the truth and good enough for me to risk my life for this country.

A time when i was brave.

A time I was brave was when I learned how to swim. I was brave because I didn’t know how to swim prior and I was scared. I thought I was going to drown. I thought that because I had almost drowned to death when I was three. But I was brave because I threw all that aside and learned how to swim. It was a proud moment of my life.

If I had a hundred dollar bill.

If I had a hundred dollar bill that I couldn’t keep and had to give away. I would give it to my mom because she would need it more than me. I would give it to her because of all the bills and stuff she has to pay. I would feel good giving her the money because I knew it would be for a good purpose. And even if she didn’t use it for bills I would want her to use it to treat herself with something good. That’s all I feel about this issue.
